Are you looking for a refreshing summer drink that tastes great and is alcohol-free? Yes, me too! Now that I’m in my 40’s, I’m finding it harder and harder to drink alcohol. I don’t sleep as well after an evening of drinking and usually wake up groggy, hungry and bloated.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I still love a beautiful glass of wine or a cold pint of Northwest-style IPA, but I’ve had to scale back, and in doing so, non-alcoholic drinks have become my go-to.
My lemonade with preserved lemon is so good, you won’t miss the booze at all. Plus, the preserved lemons will give you an extra boost of nutrition with B vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids, and probiotics that are produced during the fermentation process.
To make this drink, add one slice of preserved lemon to a tall glass, along with the juice of a fresh lemon and two tablespoons of agave nectar. Alternatively, you can use honey (or another sweetener of your choice), but I highly recommend agave. It easily mixes into cold drinks and tastes great in this recipe.
Muddle ingredients in your glass to extract the juice and break up the preserved lemon. Fill the glass with ice and top with seltzer water. Stir to incorporate. Garnish your glass with a slice of fresh lemon if you desire. Enjoy!
