Walnut Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 cup quick cooking oats
  • ½ cup raw walnuts, finely chopped
  • ½ cup onions, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground sage
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tbsp, plus ½ cup of water (divided)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  • Combine oats, walnuts, onion, garlic, salt, spices, eggs and 3 tablespoons of water in a mixing bowl. Mix with a fork to combine.
  • In a large skillet heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  • Divide hamburger mixture into fourths and shape into patties.
  • Place patties in hot skillet and cook for 4 minutes.
  • Flip patties and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  • Add ½ cup of water to the pan and cover. Cook for about 8 minutes or until all water is absorbed.
  • If topping with cheese, add in the last minute of cooking.
  • Serve burgers over greens or on hamburger buns, topped with your favorite condiments and toppings. Enjoy!
