Fruit Skewers with Yogurt Dip

Fruit Skewers with Yogurt Dip

My Fruit Skewers with Yogurt Dip are hands-down one of my son’s favorite after school snacks. I mean, what kid (or mom!) wouldn’t love wooden skewers stuffed with large chunks of fresh fruit and served with a dipping sauce made from Greek yogurt, brown sugar and cinnamon?  These skewers are delicious, fun to eat, and a breeze to make too.  Us busy moms may not have a lot of time on our hands, but that doesn’t mean that our kiddos’ snacks have to be overly processed or prepackaged. These fun fruit skewers are as easy as convenience foods, but a whole heck of a lot healthier.  I call that a win.

Start by making the yogurt dipping sauce.  In a medium-sized bowl, stir together 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt, 3 tablespoons of brown sugar and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon.  Set aside.  Next, wash, peel and/or trim 10-12 large strawberries, 2 mangos, 2-3 bananas and one apple. Slice the fruit into large cubes.  If you’d like to use different fruits, go right ahead, just make sure you have prepared enough fruit to fill 12 wooden skewers.

Assortment of fruit for fruit skewers

To assemble, thread the fruit onto wooden skewers in various patterns.  Place the skewers on a plate along with the yogurt dip.  This recipe makes 12 fruit skewers, enough for a gaggle of kiddos to enjoy!
